Excellent breakfast food and Night Hawks ambiance. My favorite on their menu is the Big Meat Omelet with feta cheese, stuffed with sausage, bacon, and real ham. This is a place so Southern, the breakfast menu has catfish and eggs! If you ask for hot sauce, you get the best: Crystal. Read More …
I have been going there for 21 years, and watched those legs get longer and longer. Restaurants come and go, but the coffee shop will always be there.

Open for breakfast and lunch this gem has comfy counter seating and a half dozen tables. Once in the door you feel instantly at home. It's as if Cheers served breakfast. It obviously populated with regulars and you know that in just a few visits they would know how you like your eggs and your favoite newspaper section. This is home-style cooking, nothing fancy, just perfectly turned out favorites. The decor is 1957, no retro here, it's the original stuff. I would put the prices on a par with a Denny's or I-Hop.
OK lets start by saying as Chef I think l this place is #1 In my book The eegs always cook just right. The staff there is great and the food is always fresh . The pancakes are the size of your head that alone is WOW FACTOR. They make you feel like family . That may be because this family run business where the owner is on the grill really kicks butt. As we say in the food industry she never in the weeds so fast and great service . A Must place to eat ...

Great Service at this local diner, the Marlyn Monroe decor is nostalgic and the coffee is good and well refreshed. I enjoyed my Corned Beef Hash but especially enjoyed the top level friendly service that goes over and above the humble atmosphere which is nostalgic for anyone who remembers real old fashioned local coffee shops.

Thanks for the comment. The Central Coffee Shoppe is indeed a great place. I was very sorry to hear their father passed away. Glad they’re going to keep it going. Thanks again for dropping by.

This is one of my favorite places. Not only is the diner-style food fantastic and affordable - the folks that work there are friendly and helpful If you become a regular they will learn your name, your favorites, and when you go there it will feel like you're visiting family. See you there.
I found this place on Urban Spoon. I had never heard of it beforehand. When we walked in for breakfast....we almost walked out as fast as we walked in. I am a little bit of a "restaurant snob" according to my family. I was a little scared of this hole in the wall place and had already judged the place before I even sat down. We decided to stay because of the good reviews that it received on Urban Spoon. I got the special with eggs over hash browns with cheese and grilled onions, my husband ordered and omlette and my daughter ordered a kids pancake meal.
Everything was delicous! We were all happy with our food. The staff were so friendly and "family" like. When we went up to pay my daughter of coarse wanted gum from the gum ball machine, I had no quarters so the lady at the register gave her one from the register. It made my 6 year olds day. We are going again for breakfast tomorrow.

Some places are exactly what they aspire to be. The Central Coffee Shop is "The Classic American Diner." ... not a latte serving coffee house like Starbucks ... but a traditional working diner with stainless steel and Formica, breakfast and home-fries .
At 35+ years of age it's the kind of place where locals are already crowded in by 8:00 and the daughter of the founders executes a practiced choreography among the table while her mom cooks at the grill.
Don't bother asking for avocado in your omelet. There's one type of jelly (mixed fruit) and it goes great on rye toast. It's solid honest food. If you lived in the neighborhood or were tired of the indulgence of wicker chairs looking over the water, you would end up here.
Surprisingly they take all the usual cards (not always the case for dyed in the wool diners). Located on the 500 block of Central Avenue, the Central is across the street from the Florida Craftsman's Gallery and and easy walk to the waterfront and the Pier.

I LOVE this place!
The cheeseburger omelette pulls my heartstrings :)
The girls who took over for their dad are seriously amazing little worker bees. Customer service from Roger, etc. turned me quickly into a regular. Even if I haven't been in a month, I feel like an old friend when I walk in the door.
One of my go-to breakfast/lunch take out spots!
